About OHWG

Comprehensive overview of the One Health Working Group's mission, vision, and approach.

Background
Information about the origins and context of the One Health Working Group.

One Health is an essential concept that recognizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, pivotal in confronting global public health challenges such as zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and environmental changes.

Despite efforts by organizations like FAO, UNEP, WOAH, WHO, and various countries in promoting the One Health approach, significant challenges remain, including fragmented policy implementation and a lack of multisectoral and transdisciplinary collaboration.

The World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) is committed to advancing global health with its mission of 'protecting people and the planet, preventing diseases, and promoting peace, health, and well-being'. In line with this mission, the CPMA and ABRASCO, members of WFPHA, proposed to establish a One Health Working Group (OHWG) to formulate a focused One Health strategy and promote One Health actions.
